Update: TRX Golfer Style
Posted on October 20, 2011
It’s been a month since I started my TRX work out program courtesy of Anna Renderer from ShedItNow and it is definitely showing. My endurance is up, I feel stronger and I can really notice a difference in core strength both on the golf course and in front of the mirror (kidding with the arrogant under tone).
I found that when I first started doing the workouts I couldn’t even get through both circuits all the way. I thought I was in decent shape but I was very, very wrong. In fact the first day I did the program I almost threw up at the end. Go hard or go home, right?
New Workout – TRX Golfer Style

After hearing so much about this TRX Suspension Training and how good it is for golfers, I finally decided to get one. I didn’t really have a set work out and didn’t have the extra money to get the TRX Golf Workout DVD, so I did what I always do in this situation… I asked a friend to help me out.
I have the pleasure of being friends with the lovely Anna Renderer, an amazing personal trainer based out of Los Angeles, and founder/owner of Shed It Now. Being the awesome friend she is, she put together a 2 day circuit TRX workout that focuses on the main muscle groups used in the golf swing. I’ll be doing each strengh training workouts twice a week with either yoga or cardio 2 days a week for the next 9 weeks.

With any sport you play, the stronger and more flexible the muscles you use to play the sport the better. In golf you are using a lot of muscles in your body, but none are more important than your “core” muscles. Your core is the area of your body from just above your knees to just below your chest. It encompasses your hamstrings, glutes, abs, obliques and lower back muscles. These are the muscles that allow you to ground your stance and rotate your body while swinging a golf club. Therefore these are the muscles you want to focus on when working out to get into “golf shape”. You’ll hear me say “golf shape” often, and what I mean is the best physical shape your body can be in that will allow you to play to your peak performance on the golf course. Now I’m not a health specialist or certified physical trainer, but I’ve worked out off and on since high school so I’ve picked a few things up. The workout below is what I’ve started doing to get back into shape and start focusing more on my core so that I can ultimately get into great “golf shape”. I’ll be changing my workouts at least every three months and will be bringing in people who know more about targeting specific muscle groups as time progresses.
